AN EVENING UNDER THE STARS

1 min read

Being invited to an event featuring exceptional cuisine paired with exquisite wines is a true celebration of life’s finest experiences.

La Revista Binacional was honored to attend a remarkable gathering hosted by the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE): https://www.nalhe.org/

This event marked the launch of the San Diego Regional Committee as part of the NALHE SoCal Chapter: https://www.nalhe.org/our-chapters/nalhe-socal-chapter

Under the leadership of Cesar Rivas Sanchez, current SoCal Board President, and Josue Arayza, the event showcased NALHE’s commitment to fostering collaboration among Latino healthcare professionals. The San Diego Regional Committee aims to address the needs of diverse communities by providing resources, support, and mentorship to increase Latino representation in executive healthcare roles.

 Event Highlights:

Inspiring Leadership: Connecting with the visionary Co-Chairs Luz Nunez, MAHRM, and Myrna Torresdey, MPH, as they embark on leading this new chapter.

Trailblazing Winemaker: Experiencing the exceptional wines of Tierra Luna Cellars, crafted by Dr. Jose M. Hernandez, a pioneering astronaut turned winemaker. Dr. Hernandez’s inspiring journey is captured in the film *A Million Miles Away*, featuring Michael Peña.

Culinary Excellence: Savoring an exquisite five-course menu prepared by Chef Augie Saucedo, with each dish thoughtfully paired with wines from Tierra Luna Cellars. The chef’s explanations of the flavors, aromas, and textures elevated the culinary experience.

The venue, Aldea La Jolla, a coastal Mexican restaurant, provided the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary evening. Guests had the unique opportunity to engage with Dr. Hernandez, an astronaut, winemaker, and entrepreneur whose story exemplifies that the sky is not the limit—it’s only the beginning.

Chef Augie Saucedo’s dishes reflected the essence of Mexican culture, blending simple ingredients with creativity and imagination to create gourmet masterpieces. Each course was beautifully complemented by Tierra Luna Cellars wines, crafted to elevate any dining experience.

Tierra Luna Cellars, aptly named to honor Dr. Hernandez’s journey from Earth to the stars, produces wines destined for exceptional pairings. Though a young vineyard, its offerings demonstrate sophistication and artistry, embodying the vision and passion of its founder.

Opinion of La Revista Binacional: Our favorite wine of the evening was CUATRO STELLAS, which means FOUR STARS. The blend of reds paired exquisitely with Wagyu beef New York Carpaccio, with pickled mustard seeds, sultans, shaved Manchego, salsa Macha and hydroponic frisee.
