Philadelphia gave no quarter to the Chiefs to be crowned in Super Bowl LIX
What was expected to be the NFL’s new great dynasty stumbled and did so against a hungry team with a desire to win, as shown from the kickoff. The Philadelphia Eagles gave a tremendous game and crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, to take revenge from two years ago.
The team from the ‘city of brotherly love’ deservedly lifted the Vince Lombardi trophy, after giving Patrick Mahomes one of the most humiliating defeats of his career by intercepting him three times and catching him 6 times (the most in his career).
When a team really plays by the score like the Eagles did, it is very difficult to beat them and Jalen Hurts was the proof. The quarterback totaled 221 yards, two touchdown passes and one touchdown on the ground.
Not losing the ball was key. The Eagles played perfect in both departments. The interception returned for a touchdown by Cooper DeJean was a sample and overall the performance of Nick Siriani’s team.
Saquon Barkley hit when he could and his quiet 97 combined yards were the showcase. However, while he didn’t score, that steady pounding defensively was also crucial.
There was no three-time champion, but Philadelphia is definitely a deserved champion. The National Conference champion had a great season and made it clear that this is a team worthy of lifting the second Vince Lombardi Trophy in its history.
