The new four-team format of the midseason classic proved to be a success.
Say goodbye to the Eastern Conference vs. the Western Conference. The revamped NBA All-Star Game debuted Sunday night with a tournament-style format. Four teams comprised of eight players will face off in three games.
Steph Curry, on his home court, led “Team Shaq” to victory and earned MVP honors. LeBron James, who earned an All-Star Game record 21st, was expected to play alongside Curry, but had to withdraw late due to ankle pain.

In the finals, Team Shaq’s OGs led the worldwide stardom of “Team Chuck,” which featured three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokić and Victor Wembanyama, who made his All-Star Game debut.
Before that, Curry and company held off “Team Candace,” the winning team in the Rising Stars competition. In the first game, Team Chuck defeated some of the NBA’s best young talent, including three-point contest winner Tyler Herro
A different format, but one that definitely worked and is apparently here to stay.
