The Nintendo Switch 2 is here! Get to know its price, new features and upcoming games

The wait is over. Nintendo has officially launched the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2, and longtime fans and new players alike can now get to know this completely revamped version of its successful hybrid console.

The official debut took place on June 5, marking a new chapter in Nintendo’s history with a console that maintains the original spirit of the Switch, but elevates the experience thanks to significant technical improvements and new features.

What’s new with the Switch 2?

This second generation features a 7.9-inch LCD screen with Full HD (1080p) resolution, ideal for appreciating every detail, even in handheld mode. In addition, its refresh rate of up to 120 Hz ensures smoother movements and smoother gameplay.

The Joy-Con also evolved: they now include functions similar to those of a mouse, allowing for greater precision in certain games. A microphone for real-time chat and headset compatibility were also incorporated, emphasizing social interaction between players. A new “C” button was added to activate GameChat, improving in-game communication.

What is the price of the Nintendo Switch 2?

Official prices vary by country:

  • In the United States, the console costs $449.99 USD, a notable increase over the $299 USD of the original version.
  • In Mexico, the price is $13,599 MXN.

In addition, Nintendo is offering a special bundle that includes the console along with the new title Mario Kart World. This bundle sells for $499.99 USD or $14,899 pesos in México, which represents a savings of almost $30 USD / $700 pesos compared to buying the game separately, which costs $79.99 in the US or $1,999 pesos in Mexico.

Where can it be purchased?

The availability of the console varies by region. In Mexico, it is already on sale in stores such as Mercado Libre, Amazon Mexico, GamePlanet, Liverpool, Elektra and Costco. In the United States, the pre-sale process in April was quite chaotic, selling out in minutes, although it is now beginning to stabilize in physical and online stores.

In Japan, demand was so high that Nintendo opted for a lottery system, receiving more than 2.2 million applications to buy the console.

First impressions: more power, same magic

Just a few hours after launch, early adopters are already highlighting significant performance improvements. Games such as Cyberpunk 2077 run surprisingly well, proving that the Switch 2 can handle more demanding titles. Mario Kart World, meanwhile, shows more vivid and fluid graphics than ever.

Nintendo’s promise is clear: keep the essence of the original Switch, but optimize every aspect to enhance the gaming experience. From graphics to player interaction, this console aims to please both casual and hardcore gamers.
