Jorge Ramos: The Journalist Who Never Stays Silent

Jorge Ramos, born in Mexico City on March 16, 1958, has become one of the most influential journalists in the Spanish-speaking world. With his unmistakable silver hair, direct tone, and sharp style, Ramos has earned the title of “the voice of immigrants” in the United States.

From a young age, his passion for communication led him to study Communication Sciences at the Universidad Iberoamericana. However, it was in 1983, after moving to the United States with only a student visa, that he began the journey that would make him the main face of Univision, the country’s leading Spanish-language network.

With more than three decades in front of the camera, Ramos has interviewed presidents, world leaders, and key figures of contemporary history. His style—tough on politicians yet close to the audience—has earned him both recognition and criticism. Throughout his career, he has received eight Emmy Awards and multiple honors for his journalistic work.

But beyond the nightly news, Jorge Ramos has also made his mark as an author, addressing topics such as immigration, identity, and political power. He has been a key figure in defending Latino rights in the United States, which has made him a respected voice both inside and outside the Hispanic community.

Now in his sixties, Ramos continues to broadcast with the same energy as when he first began. For many, he is not just a journalist: he is a bridge between two worlds, someone who has placed the Latino voice at the center of the global conversation.
