PROXIMO AVANCE: A New Era for Latino Business and Innovation

This past week in San Diego, the inaugural PROXIMO AVANCE event made a powerful statement, showcasing the immense economic and cultural influence of the Latino community. This premier business and innovation forum, spearheaded by Gary Acosta and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), brought together thousands of leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators from various sectors, including real estate, technology, finance, and entertainment.

The conference, which follows the split between the co-founders of L’ATTITUDE, signals a new era for Latino-focused events, focusing on building generational wealth and legacy. PROXIMO AVANCE featured a remarkable lineup of speakers, including legendary author Sandra Cisneros, renowned poet Richard Blanco, and executives from major corporations. A unique and noteworthy element was the “ProXimo Next” track, which was specifically designed for the adult children of business leaders, aiming to equip the next generation with the tools and vision to continue the momentum.

Congratulations to Gary Acosta and NAHREP for an outstanding job. Their vision and leadership were on full display, creating a dynamic and inspiring platform. It’s crucial for the Latino community to continue fostering these types of conferences. They not only provide invaluable networking and professional development opportunities but also reinforce a unified narrative of prosperity and power, ensuring our collective advancement and a stronger future for all.

The event’s success was driven by a diverse and influential group of participants and supporters. The Manchester Grand Hyatt on the San Diego Bay was an exceptional host, its bayfront location and world-class facilities providing the perfect backdrop for such a landmark gathering.

The conference agenda was packed with impactful sessions. One key highlight was the official release of the State of Hispanic Wealth Report, which provided an exclusive look at the financial decision-making, wealth-building strategies, and systemic challenges facing Latino households. This report underscored the community’s economic power, noting that Latino households accounted for 30.6% of U.S. GDP growth between 2019 and 2023.

The roster of speakers was truly impressive, extending beyond business and into culture, sports, and media. Attendees heard from figures like Nely Galán, a media entrepreneur and best-selling author; Varun Krishna, CEO of Rocket Companies; Carla Harris, a senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley; and even former NFL head coach Ron Rivera. The event also featured a strong emphasis on the intersection of innovation and social impact, with new tracks dedicated to topics like “Tech for Good: Intersection of AI and Social Impact” and “Sports Ownership & Leadership.” These sessions featured influential figures like actor J.R. Ramirez and 3X NBA champion Devean George.

The sponsors, including Wells Fargo, JPMorganChase, Morgan Stanley, Anywhere Real Estate, and Century 21, played a vital role in making the event possible. Their support signals a clear and growing commitment to the Latino market and its leaders.

Congratulations again to all the sponsors, speakers, and especially the thousands of attendees who contributed their energy, insights, and passion. Events like PROXIMO AVANCE are essential for our community’s continued growth, serving as powerful platforms for collaboration, inspiration, and the collective pursuit of a brighter, more prosperous future.
