This Baja Californian artist presents the text about her artistic life

Alejandra Phelts will speak in her book about her career as a plastic artist through an audiovisual at the San Diego Museum of Art on October 29 at 10:30 a.m.

Tijuana.- With the aim of promoting the appreciation of Latin American art, the San Diego Museum of Art will have an audiovisual presentation on the biographical book of the Mexican plastic artist Alejandra Phelts in an event called “The reinvention of the power of women through art”, this coming October 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Museum Boardroom.

“I feel happy, the opportunity was given through an invitation from the Museum’s Latin American Art Council, it will be an honor to share my experience as a Mexican woman artist in this important space,” commented the contemporary artist.

The book is a documentary memory that will allow us to go through and recognize the creative discourse of the artist, her life and her context. It is part of a collection that seeks to disseminate the most relevant work of the artistic community of northern Mexico coordinated by publishing house “La Rumorosa” of the Baja California Ministry of Culture.

Phelts has participated in more than 60 exhibitions in France, Italy, Spain, Japan, the United States, Monaco, Indonesia, China, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Abu Djabi, and Oman. She was selected to represent Mexico in exhibitions such as the XX Japan International Art Exchange, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 2022, at the “Salon des Beaux Arts 2018″, Salle le Nôtre Carrousel du LOUVRE, Paris, France; in 2016, the G20 Hangzhou China Global Arts Agenda, Hangzhou Quianjiang Art Museum, China.

Alejandra Phelts began her studies in 1998 at the Institut Privé de Philosophie et Théologie Saint Jean in Saint Jodard, France. In 1999 she completed a diploma in Art History on the Renaissance and Fra Angelico in Italy. After her stay in Europe, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Baja California UABC.

Since 2001, Phelts has used painting and other artistic languages ​​such as installation, photography, video, and drawing to explore the relationship between art, the body, and movement.

In 2017 she won the 1st Prize “Honored Artist” at the Latin American Art Fair in San Diego, California, United States. She also participated as a speaker in TED Talks at the Universidad Iberoamericana and CETYS Universidad Tijuana, she was invited as an art expert at Frontera Women of the Wall by the World Building Institute of the University of Southern California.

She is currently working on the conception and logistics of the SINERGIA 2022 International Art Symposium at CETYS University.
