To give diners the security that they are visiting restaurants accredited in the correct handling of food, the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) Tijuana, in collaboration with the head of the State Commission for Risk Prevention Sanitarios (Coepris), Erwin Areizaga Uribe, gave recognition to the establishments that managed to be certified in the Tijuana Self-regulation Program.
The president of the Canirac Tijuana Young Entrepreneurs Commission, Lic. Cristian Orozco, highlighted that there were more than 30 restaurants certified in said program, in addition to the fact that some hotels also joined.
“This serves so that diners really have the opportunity to decide where to go to eat, where to stay, because you don’t break any rules and you have that badge, then it gives you the assurance that it is an established place and that it handles the food and drinks,” he said.
He indicated that they will seek more and more partners to join this certification, since although it may seem complicated, establishments can obtain their distinctive very easily if they are one hundred percent in order, have a quality procedure and thus ensure that the product and its facilities are not a health risk for diners.
The president of the Youth Commission announced that Canirac will also be offering the training course offered by Coepris in Standard 251, so that its associates can be certified, and this course will even be offered free of charge to newcomers. partners.
“The invitation is for all restaurant owners, affiliated or not, to join this project because it helps them a lot to attract new customers, even for the security and certainty that it gives all of them that it is an established business and it is a business certified by Coepris, and we as a Chamber help our affiliates to achieve that goal”, concluded Cristian Orozco.
For his part, the State Commissioner of Coepris, Erwin Areizaga Uribe, commented that 110 establishments have been certified throughout the state, of which around 60 are from Tijuana, the city with the largest number of restaurants, for which they hope to achieve accreditation. total of 500 establishments in Baja California.
He pointed out that they not only certify restaurants that are dedicated to serving the general public, but also canteens in the maquiladora industry, hotels, and all spaces that involve the preparation of beverages and food.
Areizaga Uribe highlighted that although the certification does not have any cost, the training course offered by Coepris in Standard 251 to obtain this distinction does.
He asserted that by natural condition all establishments must function in accordance with Regulation 251, since otherwise the Commission has consequences for those businesses that are dedicated to the production of products, beverages and food that do not comply with the regulations.
