As a way of rewarding the work of Tijuana residents born or adopted who put the name of the city on high, Tijuana’s Walk of Fame recognized 11 new characters in a ceremony held at the Zonkeys Auditorium.
The president and founder of Tijuana Innovadora, José Galicot Behar, commented that this initiative emerged in 2003 by the Tijuana Development Council (CDT) and the Tijuana Image Committee.
“This is a collective effort, it takes us a year to plan and organize this marvel and a great number of things that our characters do, they are chosen with great care and dedication, they are noble people who mark milestones in Tijuana and in other parts of the world”, referred.
He explained that the honorees for the 19th edition of the Walk of Fame were the environmental organization KM1, who are dedicated to coastal conservation and the care of the ocean, the singer and composer, Mr. Klayton who in the reality show La Voz Senior de TV Azteca, the professional wrestler, Thuder Rosa, current champion of All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Likewise, there was Dr. Christian Peñaloza who studies neuroscience, Dr. Oscar Javier León Martínez, the first specialist in sterility and human reproduction, Luisa Gómez de Silva with a career of more than 5 years in television and film productions and the president of Tijuana Zonkeys, Eng. Rafael Carrillo.
Silvia Contreras for achieving a gold medal at the World Game in Birmingham 2022 together with the Flag Football team, chef Ruffo Ibarra for his gastronomic fusion, as well as the president of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), Héctor Vanegas.
In the same way, he indicated that it is a great satisfaction to publicize the work of those who carry out positive activities for the city and after the ceremony work will be carried out in the search for public spaces so that these photographs are exhibited for the knowledge of the population.
It is worth mentioning that the event had a surprise honoree, José Galicot Behar himself, was recognized for his work towards a better Tijuana, an initiative carried out by the participants of previous editions of
the Walk of Fame.
