Attention technology lovers! Samsung has just given a blow on the table with the launch of its new Galaxy S25 Edge, and we do not exaggerate when we say that this device is a real jewel of design and innovation. The reason? It is the thinnest flagship phone ever created by the South Korean brand, accompanied by state-of-the-art artificial intelligence functions, a luxury screen and a design so light that you almost forget you’re carrying it.
With this move, Samsung seeks to position itself ahead of its eternal rival, Apple, just before the expected debut of the so-called “iPhone Air”. Coincidence? We don’t think so.
A design so slim it looks like science fiction

The first thing that jumps out at you about the Galaxy S25 Edge is its ultra-slim profile: just 5.8 millimeters thick! To give you an idea, that makes it not only the thinnest in the Galaxy family, but also thinner than any current iPhone and even thinner than Apple’s soon-to-be-released iPhone Air (rumored to be 6.2 mm thick).
The design is intended for users looking for elegance, practicality and comfort without sacrificing power. With a weight of only 163 grams, high-end materials such as durable titanium, IP68 certification against water and dust, and a Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 glass on the front, this phone not only looks good, but also feels premium.
Cinematic display and elite brain
The S25 Edge’s display is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution, HDR10+ support and adaptive frequency between 1 and 120 Hz. Thanks to technologies like Vision Booster and Eye Comfort Shield, you’ll enjoy vibrant and sharp images no matter if you’re out in the sun or in bed watching your favorite series.
And if we go to performance, the Galaxy S25 Edge is no slouch. Inside beats the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, a customized and vitaminized version of Qualcomm’s most powerful chip. It is accompanied by a 12 GB RAM and internal storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB with UFS 4.0 technology. And the best part? Samsung guarantees seven years of system and security updates – yes, you read that right!
The fine line between power and portability

Many thought that in order to have a powerful phone you had to sacrifice slim design. Samsung decided to say “no more” to that belief. The S25 Edge achieves an enviable balance: it maintains the technical level of its big brothers in the S25 series, but in a slimmer and lighter body, without losing the essentials.
However, there is a small change on the photographic side. Unlike the S25+ and S25 Ultra, this model only has two rear cameras: a 200 MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 12 MP ultra wide-angle. There is no telephoto lens, but Samsung has compensated for this with artificial intelligence that allows for lossless digital zoom of up to 2x and up to 10x with amazing detail. In addition, the wide-angle now has autofocus so you can take macro shots like a pro, from flowers to textures.
The front camera is also 12 MP with autofocus, ideal for high quality selfies and video calls.
Small but powerful battery
One of the biggest unknowns when looking at such a slim design is: how does the battery perform? The Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery, and while it doesn’t break capacity records, Samsung claims it’s enough for a full day of use thanks to its optimized power management and cooling system.
It includes 25 W fast charging, 15 W wireless charging (Qi2 compatible) and 4.5 W reverse charging. Of course, as usual, the charger does not come in the box.
The future is smart: Galaxy AI + Gemini Live
Where this device really shines is in its artificial intelligence features. The Galaxy S25 Edge incorporates the latest Galaxy AI, with tools like:
- Audio Eraser, which removes annoying noises in voice recordings.
- DrawingAssist, which helps improve your drawings using AI.
- Real-time translation in calls or on screen.
- Personalized content generation, such as text summaries or automatic recommendations.
And thanks to its collaboration with Google, it also includes Gemini Live, a feature that literally understands what you’re seeing through your camera or on your screen and gives you instant feedback. See a weird flower? Point your camera and Gemini Live tells you what it is. Are you reading an article? Sums it up for you. Like having a smart assistant in your pocket!
Plus, features like Now Brief and Now Bar keep you up to date with reminders, news, traffic info and more, right from the lock screen.
Concerned about privacy? No problem: all AI functions can be configured to run locally, without sending data to the cloud, thanks to Samsung Knox Vault security.
A strategic (and somewhat competitive) launch
This launch was not random. Samsung carefully chose to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge a few months before the rumored iPhone Air, with the clear goal of winning over users looking for portability without sacrificing power. And it seems to be working: according to data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung surpassed Apple in global sales in Q1 2025, with 20% market share versus 19% for the Apple brand.
Although Samsung warned that external factors such as tariffs could affect its shipments in the second quarter, its bet on thin, smart and sleek is already capturing the market’s attention.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy S25 Edge has a starting price of $1,099 and will go on sale May 23 in South Korea and May 30 in the United States. It will also arrive in about 30 countries, including China and several European and Latin American markets.
It will be available in three stylish colors: Titanium Blue, Titanium Black and Titanium Silver.
In short, the Galaxy S25 Edge is much more than an ultra-thin phone: it’s a statement of intent from Samsung. Will it be enough to keep Apple at bay? That remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: Samsung just raised the bar, and did it in style.
