Anaheim, Ca.- The birthday of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse was celebrated on November 18, and the Disneyland Resort announced that Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park will reopen on March 8, 2023. At D23 Expo 2022: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in September, shared a bit more about the land’s interactive play areas and how they will be ushering in a new era of inclusive experiences for families of all ages.

This ambitious reinvention will introduce some brand new experiences, including CenTOONial Park, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (opening January 27, 2023, when Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder Celebration arrives at the Disneyland Resort), Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard and Donald’s Duck Pond. This news was shared at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo by Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products President Josh D’Amaro.

At the center of CenTOONial Park will be a fountain, designed for play, which will also become a central icon of Mickey’s Toontown. As a base, the water tables will invite guests to play with the water and live a sensory experience. At night, the fountain will come to life in a unique show.

A dreamy tree nearby will be inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown. The sculpted roots of the trees will provide an opportunity for children to play, crawl and explore, and the undulating topography will offer rolling hills and a place to sit and dream.

In addition to reopening in 2023 with the new family-friendly and adventurer-friendly Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Mickey’s Toontown will continue to be home to many beloved characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and more.

Mickey’s Toontown closed this past March 2022 to begin creating these completely new experiences. Visitors can also expect reimagined attractions such as Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster, where expert Gadget Hackwrench has created a fun-sized roller coaster, Goofy’s House, and Donald’s Boat, as well as returning favorites like Mickey’s House, Minnie’s House and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.

We’ll even see a greener, more spacious Mickey’s Toontown, the land offering more play and attractions than ever before. From active play to tactile play, new experiences will let kids play, slide, spin, splash, touch, and listen!
