Tijuana.- Celebrate the arrival of spring at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with the return of the Spring Safari, which includes the Butterfly Jungle. Spring is the season to get outdoors, spend time with family, and experience bold new adventures full of color.
The Spring Safari event will highlight the incredible local wildlife in the southwest region, including monarch butterflies, with California being a winter refuge for them. Unique to our area, western monarch butterflies are in danger of disappearing, and their numbers have plummeted by more than 99% in recent years. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance scientists are leading efforts to protect monarch butterflies and raise awareness about the plight of these and other species native to San Diego. Spring Safari visitors will learn how they can help.
Throughout the event, San Diego Zoo Safari Park will be filled with spring delights and festivities around every corner. Visitors will enjoy live entertainment from the energetic dance team The Bee Team, musical duo Bluebirds, and talented juggler Bee Plus, among others. Various strawberry-themed food and drinks will be available to enhance the “all things spring” experience.
As part of Spring Safari, the Zoo Safari Park will feature optional Premium Butterfly Jungle experiences. The Butterfly Jungle Safari experience will once again invite visitors to wander through the Hidden Jungle aviary among hundreds of butterflies, have the opportunity to feed them, and learn about their critical role in the ecosystem. Furthermore, the new Wildlife Photo Trek: Butterfly Jungle will allow visitors to spend an hour inside Butterfly Jungle photographing birds and butterflies.
Spring Safari with Butterfly Jungle will occur from March 16 to May 12. The habitat is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Premium Butterfly Jungle experiences are not included in admission. For more information about Butterfly Jungle, visit sdzsafaripark.org/butterflyjungle.
