The long-awaited Mario Bros. movie has finally been released, and as always, we couldn’t miss this amazing moment. Arriving at the movie theater, we were surprised at the number of people there. The lines for the soda fountain were so long that it was even out of the building. Believe us when we say that ENOUGH people congregated in one movie theater. Of all ages, from families with children dressed up as the main characters to adults who got to play the classic games of this great character in their childhood. All with one thing in common, a remarkable excitement and desperation to get into the theater and see this movie as soon as possible. Despite the long lines for the box office, soda fountain, and movie theaters, the joy and good mood of the people were so remarkable that it was contagious.

Now, as for our opinion about Mario Bros. We will start by saying that we will not give any spoilers, as we would love for you to live every second of this amazing movie yourselves. However, if you still need to go to the movies, we will give you an idea of what you can expect when watching Mario Bros.

Mario Bros. is such an incredibly detailed and colorful movie that you will have to watch it more than once to find all the references and easter eggs in every scene. This movie undoubtedly pays tribute to all the games that have come out over the years, from classics like Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo Entertainment System to Mario 3D World for Nintendo Switch, with costumes and cameos from characters you never expected to appear. No doubt the animators of this film did not miss any detail, and I can speak for the viewers when I say that we were pretty satisfied with the final result. Throughout this movie, you will hear countless “UUH!” and “AAH!” and children and adults pointing at the screen when they notice a reference to the games.

Also, Mario Bros will give you a bit of backstory on the main characters, which is nice to know because, for someone who has played most of the Mario video games, no matter how many adventures you’ve gone on with these characters, they don’t explain where they came from or what the relationship between them is.

The plot is undoubtedly simple but brilliant. Remember that the animation house in charge of this movie is Illumination, the minds behind several children’s movies like My Favorite Villain and Minions. They are experienced in entertaining their target audience of children. They didn’t leave the long-time Mario fans behind, though, by making this movie suitable for all ages.

And as for the dubbing, we can tell you that it was IMPECCABLE. Both in English and Spanish. In video games, the characters don’t usually say more than three sentences or repeat their slogans over and over again, so listening to Mario’s gang have complete conversations is a total relief and an essential part for the viewers.

We particularly liked the Rainbow Road scene, the moves were accurate to those in the original Mario Kart games, and everything was simply spot on. Also, all the songs used in the movie were great choices and brought back very nostalgic moments of our childhood. All people wanted coming into this movie was a trip down memory lane and a good time, and they definitely got it. This movie had the references, the jokes, the wholesome moments, the music, and the sweet victory. There were subtle nods to the gameplay you find in the many games, like the flag at the end of every level, the small shells, and the famous Toad scream.

In short, Mario Bros. is an adorable movie that kids and adults alike are going to love and want to watch more than once. So, if you have yet to see this movie get ready with your best Mario costume, get to the movie theater a little early so you have time to order your popcorn and enjoy all the references, cameos, and songs. Yes, you read that right, songs, but don’t worry, you’ll have a lot of fun and leave the theater singing too.
