Brenda Aguirre: A Binational Powerhouse Bridging Communities & Campaigns

Brenda Aguirre is a proud Tijuana-born immigrant, queer Latina, and emerging leader shaping San Diego’s political and social justice landscape. Rooted in the borderlands, her journey reflects cultural pride, lived experience, and a deep commitment to empowering historically marginalized communities.

As CEO and Founder of her consultancy, Brenda coaches women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ candidates to run for—and win—office. Her firm has been instrumental in diversifying leadership and transforming who holds power in our region.

She’s currently the Director of Programs & Operations at TransFamily Support Services, leading affirming programs for trans and nonbinary youth and families. From grassroots care to advocacy, Brenda spearheads initiatives that center dignity, inclusion, and support for the community’s most vulnerable members.

Brenda’s social work roots and leadership roles at Chicano Federation and multiple Latino nonprofits have grounded her in community-focused, intersectional activism. She’s also been a key strategist in high-impact political efforts—including working on Elizabeth Warren’s campaign and numerous winning local races—bringing electoral rigor and transformative vision to every campaign she touches.

On the nonprofit front, she sits on the boards of Run Women Run and Equality California, continuing her work to expand representation and equity at both state and local levels.

Her trailblazing leadership has earned her multiple accolades: LGBTQ Leader of Excellence from the San Diego Business Journal, Unsung Hero of the 80th Assembly District, and the Shine Bright Award from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

This Pride, Brenda stands as a beacon of binational identity and immigrant resilience. From campaigning with national champions to lifting grassroots victories, her cross-border vision lights the path toward lasting change.
