Carmen Torres is the Author of “The Smart HR Solution” and CEO & Chief HR Specialist of My HR Specialist, Inc., a firm specializing in business and employment consulting and hands-on-call services for business owners and non-profits helping them build equitable, safe, and collaborative workplaces. 

Throughout her career, she has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor, known for building HR departments that support both organizational growth and employee well-being. Her approach is comprehensive and human-centered—because Carmen understands that managing people is never one-size-fits-all. 

She combines strategic insight with deep empathy to guide employers through complex workplace challenges with clarity, compliance, and confidence. Employers appreciate her practical, people-first style, clear communication, and unwavering commitment. Carmen makes HR feel less complicated and more manageable, always focused on creating environments where teams can succeed.

Carmen supports employers in all phases of employment needs when they’re confronted by State and Federal administrative agencies, such as the Labor Commissioner, the Civil Rights Department, the Department of Labor, EDD, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She conducts workplace investigations, internal audits, and provides training to individuals and groups in the areas of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee classification, and wage and hour compliance. 

Her company specializes in developing policies and procedures such as handbooks, recruiting and onboarding, and termination processes ensuring that your business is compliant minimizing the risk of employment liability. Carmen’s experience covers virtually every industry, including non-profits and businesses ranging from small, family-run companies to nationwide organizations in services, restaurants, construction, and health industries to name a few.

Outside of work, Carmen enjoys hitting the golf course, cheering on her beloved Dodgers, and spending quality time with her close-knit family and friends. That thoughtful balance of precision and heart is what she brings to every client partnership.
