Visionary, global leader and tireless advocate for the rights of migrant workers, María Fernanda Reyes, HC Dr, stands out as one of the most influential figures in the field of agricultural innovation worldwide. She currently holds the position of Global Chair of Agtech Agriculture and Agrotourism for the G100, where she drives transformative initiatives that integrate technology, sustainability and social justice.
Originally from the fertile lands of Sonora, Mexico, Maria Fernanda grew up surrounded by her family’s agricultural legacy, forged by her grandfather, a renowned innovator in the region. This environment instilled in her a deep respect for the land and an early passion for modernizing the agricultural sector. Her educational background led her to cross borders, earning degrees in International Business and Marketing from the University of Kent at Canterbury, as well as a Global Masters in Management from the London School of Economics.
Fluent in five languages and with international experience in diverse communities, Maria Fernanda has developed a unique perspective that is reflected in her disruptive and inclusive approach. From her beginnings in food waste management at ASDA (Walmart UK), to her leadership in Agtech with Bioderpac-Agrinos, she has been a constant driver of change, breaking barriers in traditionally conservative industries.
Her trajectory is marked by recognitions that validate her ability to innovate and lead with purpose: from winning the prestigious UC Davis Big Bang Competition in Agriculture, to being named one of the 200 Most Important Women in Mexico. As a representative of more than 250,000 migrant farmworkers in the U.S., she has advocated for their dignity and rights at the highest institutional levels.
Recognized by the Mexican Senate as a “Woman Who Changes the World” and by the City of New York for her outstanding leadership, her impact is truly global. She was selected among the 12 emerging leaders of the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) Leadership Program, and has shined in multinational companies such as Cummins Inc. leading strategic processes in different continents.
Through her philanthropic work with AdoptaHero, an organization she founded to support frontline heroes and indigenous people without medical access during the pandemic, she has saved millions of lives and has been recognized with the Covid Superhero Award 2021.
Maria Fernanda not only leads from technical knowledge and business experience, but also from a deep vocation for service. Her commitment to equity, sustainable innovation and the empowerment of vulnerable communities positions her as a true example of Latin excellence that is redefining the future of global agriculture.
