Martin earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from San Diego State University, a foundation that has guided his path in public service. His latest role as the Taxpayer Advocate Officer at the San Diego County Assessor, Recorder, and County Clerk’s Office positions him at the forefront of addressing tax-related concerns for San Diego County residents. In this capacity, Martin is not only analyzing and resolving taxpayer issues but also identifying opportunities for legislative improvements that benefit the broader community.
Prior to this role, Martin served as the Director of Prevention and Intervention Programs at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. In this position, he led initiatives designed to address pressing community needs and foster collaboration among local agencies. Among his most impactful achievements is the creation of the DA’s Pop-Up Homeless Resource Fairs in 2020. This initiative, which has served over 2,000 community members, removes barriers preventing homeless individuals from accessing necessary resources. By providing an “in-the-community” court process to temporarily clear low-level warrants and fines for those willing to seek services, the program has significantly contributed to efforts aimed at addressing homelessness in San Diego County.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Martin is deeply invested in his community through volunteer work. He serves on the boards of the Border View Family YMCA and the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center, where he plays an instrumental role in advancing programs that support inclusivity and community development.
