Mónica Hernández: President and CEO of the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

2 mins read

Monica Hernandez proudly leads the Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the First Coast (FCHCC), where she has become a key force for the growth and visibility of the Hispanic community in Northeast Florida. A graduate of the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in International Business, Monica also holds a master’s degree in Finance and Marketing from Nova Southeastern University and a certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard University. She currently holds a position as Vice President in Global Markets Asset Services and, in parallel, serves as President of the FCHCC.

Under Monica’s leadership, the Chamber has experienced significant growth, tripling its membership and expanding its impact in the region. Thanks to her leadership, the FCHCC was recognized as Chamber of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), opening its first physical office to improve service to its members and increasing its visibility among the Hispanic and non-Hispanic community. One of the important milestones was the creation and organization of the first full-day event focused on Hispanic entrepreneurship, offering tools and support networks to Latino business owners. Looking ahead to 2024, FCHCC plans to host the first Hispanic Business Expo in partnership with the City of Jacksonville, an event designed to bring visibility to Hispanic businesses in a space for exchange and growth.

What makes you proud or excited about leading a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce?

“It fills me with pride to represent Hispanics and Latinos in Northeast Florida. It is beautiful to see the partnerships we form and the hard work that defines our community. The FCHCC has tripled its membership, and our programs continue to provide tools and resources for Latinos. Being able to elevate the accomplishments of our community is, without a doubt, one of my favorite parts of this role. Seeing how our work creates opportunities and celebrates the effort and dedication of Hispanic businesses is very rewarding.”

What is important for more people to know about the community of Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners in your area?

“Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in Northeast Florida. More and more are opening businesses and buying property, actively contributing to the local economy. We have Latinos from all over who have come to this region and made it their home. It’s important for people to know the positive impact of this community and the value we bring.”

How can we better support Hispanic business owners and entrepreneurs?

“By offering more tools, resources and visibility. Every additional program, event and resource we can offer Hispanic entrepreneurs opens a door to greater opportunities. By increasing their visibility and offering concrete support, we are helping to build a stronger and more diverse local economy.”

Monica Hernandez’s vision and dedication have not only taken the FCHCC to a new level, but have also created a space where Hispanic entrepreneurs can thrive, connect and be recognized for their contributions. With initiatives like the Hispanic Business Expo, FCHCC is not only improving access to resources, but also promoting an environment of inclusion where Latino excellence and entrepreneurship can shine.
