As President and CEO of the YMCA of San Diego County, Todd Tibbits leads one of the largest YMCAs in the United States, with a budget exceeding $340 million. His track record in the nonprofit sector has established him as a respected leader, driving programs and services that make a profound impact on people’s lives and strengthening communities.

With an approach based on collaboration, community integration and evidence-based solutions, Todd is dedicated to removing barriers and creating opportunities for every person to reach their full potential at every stage of life. His leadership has been instrumental in developing strategies that foster inclusion and empowerment of diverse populations, with an unwavering commitment to the Latino community.

Prior to joining the YMCA of San Diego in 2021, Todd served as President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, where he successfully led a five-year strategic process and a robust recovery plan following the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, he held multiple leadership positions at the YMCA of Greater Twin Cities, the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo, as well as YMCA organizations in Michigan and Louisiana.

His dedication to education and leadership training is reflected in his Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Springfield College, earned through the prestigious John R. Mot National Scholarship.

He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Spring Arbor University, where he excelled as co-captain of the men’s basketball team.

Todd’s impact has been widely recognized nationally. Among his many distinctions, he received the 2018 Non-Latin Person Most Supportive of the Latino Community award from Latin American Excelente in recognition of his tireless work for the well-being and inclusion of the Latino community. He has also been awarded the “Professional Excellence Award” from Spring Arbor University in 2019, the “Root Award” from the MLK Jr. Growing the Dream event in 2020 and, most recently, in 2023, he was named Executive of the Year in the nonprofit sector and one of the 500 Most Influential People by the San Diego Business Journal.

In addition to his professional work, Todd serves on the Board of Trustees of Spring Arbor University and the YMCA Guardians Against Child Sexual Abuse, a group of national leaders actively working to protect children.

Todd is married to Denise and is a proud father of three children, Mel (with his wife, Samra), Candice (with her husband, Ryan) and Eliana. He is also a grandfather to Leandra, Truett and Cedric, who inspire him to continue building a more equitable world full of opportunity for all.
