- During their recent visit to Germany, businessmen and Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila held meetings with companies from sectors such as the automotive industry.
For the Economic and Industrial Development of Tijuana (Deitac), promotion work is of utmost importance both to attract new investments and to retain those that are already established in the region, and where the presence of the authorities is a fundamental support.
In an interview with Carlos Jaramillo Silva, president of Deitac, he highlighted the experience that was recently lived in Europe, where businessmen and officials attended an economic promotion tour of Germany, and in which the governor Marina del Pilar Ávila was present.
In this sense, the fact that the governor of the state was present in the promotional tour in Europe, he argued, gave greater support to the work carried out by organizations such as Deitac.
“What I was able to verify is that the governor is a good promoter, so when we had meetings with companies that already have a presence here, and that see the presence of the highest authority in the state, it gives greater certainty, especially to talk about other concerns. and projects,” he said.
The leader mentioned that, as they say, “A saint who is not seen, is not adored”, so it is vital to go out and publicize the benefits of Baja California.
As far as this visit to Germany, he remembered, the first thing they told them was why they hadn’t come before? And it is that after Canada, Mexico and China, Germany is the fourth largest investor in the United States, hence the need to be present.
The leader of Deitac pointed out that German investment has been concentrated in the center of the country, mainly in what refers to the automotive industry, in such a way that a very large agenda of visits and meetings with companies was attended.
“We are seeking to bring better industrial quality, not only in assembly operations, but also in technologies, laboratories, design centers, which is where we want to push industry in our state,” he said.
Finally, Jaramillo Silva stressed that Baja California‘s interest is that investments arrive in sectors such as mobility, including the manufacture of electric cars, as well as transversal sectors that contemplate the development of software and new technologies.
