Universal City, Ca. A groundbreaking experience at the new Super Nintendo World attraction will officially open at Universal Studios Hollywood on Friday, February 17, 2023. Get ready to feel like you’re part of the unforgettable Mario Kart video game.
This brand new and dynamic area is a visual spectacle of vibrant color and architectural ingenuity located within a newly added area of Universal Studios Hollywood. SUPER NINTENDO WORLD will feature the innovative “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” ride and many exciting and interactive activities designed to engage the whole family in the captivating ‘Mushroom Kingdom.’
From the moment you pass through the iconic green pipe, a journey full of exploration, discovery, and play awaits you, entirely unlike anything you have experienced before. Their journey begins as they enter ‘Peach’s Castle’ before venturing further into the colorful ‘Mushroom Kingdom.’
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD takes you into the 360-degree world of Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, where they will become an integral part of their exciting universe. Also, by purchasing a Power-Up Band (interactive wearable bracelet), visitors can deepen their interactions throughout the area.
“Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” is a new technologically advanced attraction inspired by the famous Mario Kart video game series that will seamlessly merge cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) with projection and scenario mapping technology along a moving track. Against a multi-sensory backdrop of color, sound, and motion, guests will sit in four-seat, stadium-style vehicles as they navigate family-friendly tours through the creative use and integration of head-mounted augmented reality (AR) glasses.
As part of Team Mario, fans will navigate underwater and cloud pathways to compete for the ‘Golden Cup’ while collecting coins to defeat Team Bowser and win. “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” raises the stakes as guests enjoy an intriguing, repeatable attraction with various outcomes.
Inside this attraction, you feel immersed in a captivating world of real-life gameplay, including punching, blocks to collect digital coins, and various interactives. Through the interactive binoculars, they will discover a new dimension of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD using augmented reality technology located inside the attraction. Guests can beat all four key challenges and collect keys to the interactive activities: Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant, and Thwomp, ultimately allowing access to the climactic boss battle with Bowser Jr. These energetic, family-friendly, and fun interactive games will enhance even further the entire kinetic experience within the attraction, immersing guests in the unique World of Super Mario.
