The Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) of Tijuana hosted a pre-congress in which experts spoke about water scarcity and possible solutions, in addition to signing an agreement with the Mexican Hydraulic Association.
In an interview with Mr. Jesús Rincón Vargas, leader of the CMIC Tijuana, Tecate and Rosarito delegation, he explained that this event corresponds to the series of pre-conferences that the business organization carries out in different cities, prior to its national congress that takes place will celebrate in Sinaloa.
“Today he played in Tijuana where we talked about the problems of the Baja California water system, where topics such as a diagnosis and possible solutions were analyzed,” he said.
The leader commented that the focus of the event was the scarcity of water in the region, as well as the problem of drought, which is known to be something that has persisted for many years.
Rincón Varga pointed out that the region, made up of cities such as Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito and part of Ensenada, depends on the aqueduct that comes from the Colorado River, so if a large earthquake occurs, the situation would become catastrophic.
“That is why we saw the possible solutions in various ways, from legal, technical, treatment, purification, desalination, reuse, and all the different items that have to be addressed to solve the problem,” he noted.
The president of the CMIC referred that a possible solution to the lack of water is to legislate so that both industry and the agricultural sector implement systems that allow optimizing the use of water.
For example, he said, that the industry uses the reuse of water in its processes, while the agricultural sector, especially in the San Quintín area, apply drip irrigation systems, and no longer resort to methods such as flooding the land for planting, as this means a great waste of water.
In that sense, Mr. Jesús Rincón welcomed the fact that students were present at this event, since the idea is that they become aware of the importance of implementing solutions from now on, because in the future they will have to lead these issues. .
Finally, within the framework of this pre-conference, the leader of the CMIC Tijuana signed an agreement with the Mexican Hydraulic Association with the aim of joining technical, cultural, economic and academic efforts, in order to provide solutions to the problem of water scarcity. in Lower California.
