Breast Cancer is NOT a death sentence!

1 min read

Mammography, Clinical Examination and Self-examination are the three exams that exist for early detection with the purpose of finding cancer in time in people who do not have any symptoms in their breasts. The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chances that treatment will be successful and thus maintain a better quality of life. Routine annual screenings are intended to detect cancer before it causes symptoms, saving thousands of lives each year. In 2023 in the United States, around 300,590 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed, (2,800 will be men) approximately 28,100 will be Hispanic. Hispanic women have a high rate of finding breast cancer in a very advanced stage; because we do NOT perform our routine exams, we go to the doctor when the symptoms are already very advanced, together we will be able to lower these statistics and prove that we can improve the quality of life in our Hispanic community.

Cancer is abnormal cells that begin to grow uncontrollably. Breast cancer forms in the tissues of the breast, usually in the ducts and lobules. Only by doing screening tests can we ensure that we are free of Cancer.

We don’t know how to prevent breast cancer, but if we know that “Early Detection” is the key, get your annual mammogram,
