San Diego, CA, November 8th, 2023 – A magical night filled with tradition marked the first edition of the Day of the Dead Philanthropic Dinner hosted by This Is About Humanity and Tijuana Sin Hambre. Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, Maru Riqué de Vargas, with the generous support of Charo García-Acevedo as the host at Rancho Santa Fe, were behind this wonderful evening, bringing together renowned chefs from both sides of the border for a unique culinary experience led by Chef Adria Marina.

The Philanthropic Dinner featured the prominent presence of internationally acclaimed chefs who treated guests to a unique culinary experience. The experts delighted guests with exquisite dishes, blending traditional ingredients with contemporary techniques, accompanied by select wines and other specialty beverages, creating an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

The charitable event had the special participation of Jaime Camil, actor and television personality as the emcee, captivating the audience with his charisma and humor. The night was filled with the richness of Mexican culture, featuring a spectacular folkloric dance performance that paid tribute to Day of the Dead traditions and concluded with live Mariachi music.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of everyone involved in this event,” expressed Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade and Maru Riqué de Vargas, the event’s organizers.

The Philanthropic Dinner resulted in an extraordinary cultural and gastronomic experience, marking a milestone in community unity to make a positive difference in society.

To this day, Tijuana Sin Hambre has succeeded in providing 3,100 daily meals to 19 shelters in Tijuana, which translates to 1 million meals per year. The funds raised at this Gala dinner will be allocated for the purchase of a refrigerated truck to rescue perishable food and additional equipment. The goal is to continue making strides in the fight against hunger at the border.
